Girls Soccer Reaches CIF Finals for Second Year in a Row
Posted February 29
The Girls Varsity Soccer team has done it again! They have reached the CIF-SS Championship game for the second year in a row and third time in school history. In the semi-final game, the Tartans played San Dimas High School who was seeded second in the playoffs. St. Margaret’s defeated San Dimas last season, to win the championship. The match was extremely close but in the 37th minute of the first half, Captain McCaully Patch placed a perfect corner kick to McKenna Marmelstein who swiftly headed it into the back of the net for the one and only goal of the game. The team skillfully defended their lead and prevented San Dimas from scoring for the next 43 minutes . The defense was led by Natalie Barbaresi, Alexa Barbaresi, Kelsey Patch and Stefanie Brunswick. Goal keeper Ellie Schwartz had an outstanding game and her tremendous save late in the game sealed the Tartans’ victory.
