Tennis Continues Winning Ways and Cheng Earns OC Register’s Athlete of the Week

The St. Margaret’s Girls Tennis Team is enjoying yet another great fall season. Last week the Tartans ranked #2 in CIF beat the Sage Hill Lightning ranked #3 in CIF at The Balboa Bay Racquet Club 10-8 and thus taking a commanding lead in the Academy League. The Tennis team was led by Junior Zoe Oedekerk, who was fighting a back injury but managed to sweep her doubles matches, with partner senior Katie Fragapane. Senior Tiffany Cheng swept her singles matches by scores of 6-1, 6-2, 6-0. The Tartans and Lightning will have a rematch on October 14th at home. With their win over Sage Hill and Crean Lutheran on Friday the Tartans extended their winning streak to 80 matches, last losing in the CIF Semifinals in 2007.
Senior Tiffany Cheng was named the OC Varsity Girls Tennis Athlete of the Week for the week of October 4, 2011. The St. Margaret’s Girls Tennis team continues their Academy League schedule this week with matches on Tuesday October 4th at Brethren Christian and Thursday October 6th vs Oxford Academy at home.
