Secunda Fabula De Minimo - Second Story About Minimus

NOW WITH A TRANSLATION!

(Minimus et mures amici ad fruticem veniunt.   mures circumspectant. Mures caseum cupiunt.Minimus and (his) mice friends come to a shrub.   The mice look around.  The mice long for cheese.

 unus mus:  Minime, haec non est silva parva!  est frutex!

                    Minimus, this is not a small forest!  It is a shrub!

 (mures sunt confundati…The mice are confused.

 Minimus:    nescio, sed intus caseus est.

                    I don't know (about this), but there is cheese inside.

 unus mus:  scisne certo, nam nescis certo de silva! 

                    Do you know for certain, for you don't know for certain about the forest. (Loosely: "...for you are not certain about the forest.")

 (mures sunt anxii…)   The mice are anxious.

 Minimus:    scio certo de caseo et...

                    I know for sure about the cheese and...

 unus mus:  quid?  quid est in frutice?

                    What?  What is in the shrub?

 (subito ingens feles ex frutice dirumpit!  mures amici sunt perterriti.)

Suddenly a huge cat bursts forth from the bush! The mice friends are terrified.

 mures:        MONSTRUM EST!  monstrum solum oculum habet!

                    It is a MONSTER!   The monster has only one eye!

 Minimus:    currite!  amici, currite!

                    Run!  Friends, run!

 (mures currunt sed Minimus ad terram cadit.  feles pedem in Minimo ponit.)

 The mice run but Minimus falls to the ground.  The cat places a paw on Minimus.

 mures:        Minimus! monstrum Minimum capit!

                    Minimus! The Monster is seizing Minimus!

 unus mus: currite!  currite, mures!  nolite curare Minimum!

                    Run!  Run, mice!  Don´t worry about Minimus!

 (mures exiunt.  Minimus felem spectat.  feles Minimum spectat.)

The mice leave.  Minimus looks at the cat.  The cat look at Minimus.

 Minimus:    furcifer!  pestis! unoculum monstrum!  vexa aliquem ingentiorem quam me!

                    Scoundrel!  Pest!  One-eyed monster!  Bother someone bigger than I...

 feles (Monstrum):   salve, mus!

                    Hello, mouse!

 Minimus:    quid dixitisti? ... 

                    What did you say? ....
