Junior Hunter Edington and Senior Robert Deng have been named OCVarsity Athletes of the week in Lacrosse and Golf, respectively.

The Tartans play Wednesday, May 15 at 7pm against #2 seeded Bishop Montgomery on the road.

The winners of the Annual CIF Southern Section Academic Awards program have been announced. The team awards, based on a cumulative grade point average, are awarded in 22 sports.

The Tartans defeated Harvard-Westlake 15-8 to bring home the U.S. Lacrosse Southern Section title. St. Margaret's won 19 games in a row to finish the season 21-4.

For the first time in school history, the team has advanced to the Southern California Golf Championship at Brookside Country Club on Thursday May 30^th in Pasadena.

The Tartans continued their 17 game win streak by defeating Corona Del Mar High School 12-7 in the US Lacrosse Southern Division Championship.

The Tartans played excellent golf in some adverse conditions to finish second at the South Coast CIF-SS Divisional at Talega Golf Course.

Senior Harrison White has been selected to represent the South team in the Orange County Kiwanis Club of Greater Anaheim Baseball All-Star game.

Senior Attackman, Alex Waller, was named Orange County Register's Athlete of the week.

Senior Mary Raymund, featured in this week’s GoHorseShow.com, will compete for the American Quarter Horse Youth Association World Show coming up in August.

In late April, Senior Macey Davis was awarded one of the open spots on the University of Oklahoma's All-Girl Cheerleading Squad.

Sophomore volleyball player, Matt Nicholas, was recently named Boys Volleyball Athlete of the Week. Nicholas has helped lead the Tartans to an overall record of 14-4 and an undefeated league record of 7-0. He has been the starting opposite for two years and was instrumental in victories over Sage Hill (21 kills) and Saddleback Valley Christian (17 kills). The Tartan volleyball team is currently ranked #6 in Division 4 and plays Sage Hill in an important league match this Friday at 5pm.

Senior Baseball player, Harrison White, has been named the Orange County Register’s Scholar Athlete of the week. Harrison is a four year starter and a captain that will continue playing baseball at Yale University next year.

This past weekend, the Tartans competed in the Ocean View Small Schools Invitational where Lara Ohanesian had breakthrough performances in the discus and shot put events.

Williams scored eight goals and recorded five assists in two victories against Trinity League opponents last week.

Senior Arreanna Marko was selected by the girls varsity basketball coaches of the Academy League to represent the league in the 48th Annual OC North vs. South 12th Grade All Star Game held at Concordia University this past Saturday.

Davidson College sophomores Sarah Paddon ’11 and Gracie Gordon ’11 have had several break out performances for the Wildcats.

The Tartans look to continue their strong team play as they turn their focus on capturing another Trinity League Championship and moving onto the US Lacrosse Southern Section Playoffs at the end of the season.

For the second year in a row, McKenna Marmelstein was selected to the Orange County Register All-County First Team. As senior captain and defensive midfielder, Marmelstein dominated the middle of the field and helped lead the Tartans to an undefeated Academy League Championship and an outstanding season overall.

Mitch Marmelstein '11 earned Second Team All-Conference in the Presidents Atheltic Conference for Grove City College. He led the Wolverines in minutes played, scoring, rebounding and in assists and he was second in blocked shots and steals.

Senior Pole Vaulter Macey Davis is captured flying over the crossbar at the Irvine Invitational on Friday. Macey placed 2nd in the competition, behind teammate and Invitational Champion Mary McGraw.

The team experienced significant success this year winning 20 games, taking 2^nd in the Academy League, and finishing as the #8 ranked team in Division 4A.

Yesterday, the Tartan wrestling team traveled to Webb School in Claremont, CA for the Prep League Finals. The top 4 wrestlers from each weight class would qualify for the CIF Individual Championships.

Senior Alexis Leon has signed a Letter of Intent and will continue her soccer career with the NCAA II Runners-Up University of San Diego. Senior Harrison White recently made a verbal commitment to play baseball next year at Yale University.

On January 12^th and 13^th, 2013, the Equestrian team competed in an IEL Show at Blenheim Farms in San Juan Capistrano.

Quinn appeared in nine games for Santa Ana Community College last season, making 15 catches for 252 yards and scoring one touchdown. He chose The University of Tennessee over offers from Fresno State and San Diego State.

Chalmers is currently tied for the team lead in goals (6) and leads the Tartans in assists (7).

The Tartan Boys Basketball team reached the championship game of the Tri-City Christian Holiday Tournament on Saturday, December 29^th where they fell to the host school 71-54.

The Girls Varsity Basketball team loaded up to the two mini vans with snacks, water and anticipation for their fun filled four day trip out to Palm Desert for the Max Preps Holiday Tournament.

After beginning the season with some first game jitters the Girls Varsity Basketball Team went into the Fairmont Tournament knowing they were a better team than that and were motivated to prove it on the court.

The Tartan Boys Basketball team started off the 2012-13 season by winning the Consolation Championship of the Garden Grove Winter Classic Tournament, going 3-1 overall.

Mothander set the school's single-season record for PATs with 52, surpassing his own record of 48 from a year ago. Just a junior, he already owns Harvard's career record with 134.

Kati joined 750 cheerleaders from across the nation for five days of rehearsals, broadway shows, city tours and performances.

Wednesday, November 14, 2012 was the National Letter of Intent signing day. St. Margaret’s Episcopal School had two athletes who signed letters of intent that day.

Senior Captain, Brandon Price, earned Orange County Register’s Athlete of the Week honors for the week of November 05- 11th 2012. Price has led the Tartans to their fourth consecutive Academy League title and a State Division 5 ranking of third. He and his teammates will compete this weekend in the CIF-SS prelims on Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, CA.

After red-shirting his first year of college at Boston University, Lind (a 2010 St. Margaret’s alum) transferred to Pomona-Pitzer to play for the Sagehens, an NCSAA Division 3 team. His presence at midfield has already paid dividends for his team during their current 11-game win streak.

Senior Captain, Gigi Morally, earned Orange County Register’s Athlete of the Week honors for the week of October 22^nd- 26^th 2012. Morally has been the Tartans starting outside hitter and is ranked number one in Division 3A. Her outstanding play helped beat rival Sage Hill and secure another Academy League title.

Fifty-five lower school participants from grades 1-5 participated in the cheer clinic, the highest number of participants to attend this event to date.

The Girls Golf Team has had a busy two weeks winning a co-league Championship on October 1^st and qualifying six golfers for individual post season play at the league preliminaries on Friday October 12^th.

On Monday the Tartans (4-0) defeated visiting Calvary Chapel 15-3 at the Rancho San Clemente Tennis Club for the program's 100th consecutive match-win in a row.

The Tartan Cheerleaders were among the 200 cheerleaders who attended the National Cheerleaders Association's camp from July 24-27 in Newport Beach.

As a small school that has a philosophy of promoting the multi sport athlete, the school’s success of the individual athletes as well as the success of the teams is very impressive.

The Orange County Register has acknowledged the St. Margaret’s Athletic Department by naming it the third best athletic program in all of Orange County.

Duenes notched 29 goals and 24 assists on the year. He also had 32 groundballs and 12 defensive takeaways. Matt has been a mainstay at the midfield position for St. Margaret's for the past four years and will be attending the United States Air Force Academy this fall. The St. Margaret's Track and Field team competed in the CIF Southern Section Finals at Mt. San Antonio College this past Saturday.

From a pool of more than forty applicants, Carmer stood out as the clear person to lead the Tartan basketball program. Coach Carmer has spent the last 18 years coaching at Santa Margarita Catholic High School, the past 7 years as the co-head coach of their varsity program.

Besides being chosen for the cheer team Ashley is also proud to receive a full scholarship to OU. All you college football fans out there, look for Ashley and the OU Co-Ed Cheer Team starting in September when the Sooners take the field!

The Tartans this year have four teams that earned the prestigious honor of finishing in first place. The Girl’s Basketball team with a 3.853 GPA , the Girl’s Golf team with a 3.730 GPA , the Girl’s Track and Field team with a 3.744 GPA , and the Wrestling team with a 3.625 GPA.

St. Margaret's Equestrian team won two out of the four School Division Championships (Novice and Freshman Divisions) awarded at this year's Interscholastic Equestrian League (IEL) Banquet.

On Thursday May 19^th, the Tartan Swim Team competed against Sage Hill School, at JSerra High School. The female team cruised to a victory over the “Lightning” swimmers. But, in what might be a historic first, the male Tartan team proved victorious as well.

OCVarsity's reporters were asked to come up with their spring sports Dream Team featuring athletes who are making a big impact so far this season on their respective teams.

Six boys lacrosse athletes and one girls lacrosse athlete were named to OCVarsity's top OC players to watch. Chris Bauer, Matt Duenes, Nolan Lynch, Kent Iizuka, Scott McGowan, Chase Williams and Regan Anderson are featured in the list.

Chase contributed to the Tartans' 11-9 win over Foothill with three goals and two assists. Chase also leads the team in scoring with 13 goals and 5 assists on the year.

St. Margaret's own, Billy Gaudreau spent February 24-26, 2012 racing in Seattle, Washington against some of the best high school runners in the country.

McKenna contributed 14 goals and six assists on the season. She also led the Tartans with five goals in the CIF-SS Division 6 playoffs to help the team win its second straight CIF championship.

Four Tartan athletes were invited to compete against some of the best competition in southern California in this early-season meet. Billy Gaudreau, Chelsie Churchill, Brandon Price, and Paul Brenneman represented St. Margaret's incredibly well.

Donahue, who earned all-county honors in 2011 and was the CIF-SS Division 6 Player of the Year, will attend Stanford next fall.

For the second year in a row, Tartan soccer has brought home a CIF Championship. The Tartans defeated Hemet 6-5 on penalty kicks after ending regulation tied 1-1.

The Tartan Boys’ Soccer team started off their season in a positive way by winning the Linfield Christian tournament this past weekend. Senior Greg Paul earned Offensive MVP of the tournament.

Senior forward Jessica Zavalza leads the Cougars with seven goals scored this season. Zavalza has 16 career goals scored. She also leads UH in shot percentage, connecting on 30 percent of her attempts on goal.

After an impressive finish at the OC Championships, Senior Cross Country runner Billy Gaudreau has been named OCVarsity Cross Country Athlete of the Week.

Gaudreau out-leaned El Toro senior Kevin Durham at the finish line in a photo finish to become the first Tartans runner to win the sweepstakes race at the Orange County Championships Saturday at Irvine Regional Park.

On Saturday, October 8th the Tartan Cheerleaders, along with Coach Jamie McCann and Coach Paige Gammell, had a successful evening of cheering on the Tartans, inspiring future cheerleaders and raising funds for an important cause.

The Orange County Interscholastic Equestrian League had their first show of the year this past Friday and Saturday and the Tartan Equestrian team did an outstanding job. The team took home the Champion Ribbon for freshman school.

The St. Margaret’s Girls Tennis Team is enjoying yet another great fall season. Last week the Tartans ranked #2 in CIF beat the Sage Hill Lightning ranked #3 in CIF at The Balboa Bay Racquet Club 10-8 and thus taking a commanding lead in the Academy League.
