The expressions of thoughts and feelings
take many forms. Verbal and written language are only two of the forms that communicate
these expressions. Music, dance, drama, and the visual arts expand verbal and non-verbal
communication skills and encourage exploration of intuitive and emotional forms of
self-expression. Originating, creating, performing, and interpreting are all important
aspects of artistic expression.
The Arts provide a humanizing influence and create a
balance in our curriculum which helps with the development of the whole person. Skill
development is emphasized across the fine arts spectrum so that students can be effective
in expressing their ideas. Our programs and classes also place an emphasis on learning to
be creative problem-solvers. Research has shown that students who study the arts are also
more likely to display originality and creativity in other subjects.
Each Spring, lower school students perform in a musical.
Recent productions include Really Rosie, Stuart Little,
Annie Jr.,Peter Pan,Fiddler Jr., and Music Man.
