There are several steps
involved in applying for admission to the California State
University system as a freshman.
-
Pick up the application from the College Counseling Office (or apply
on-line at http://www.csumentor.edu).
Applications are sent directly by the California State
University system to the Counseling Office in October.
-
File
the application. The application filing period is
continuous throughout the fall and spring semesters but it is
advisable to submit your Cal State application as early as
possible because space availability is limited. You are
encouraged to submit your application in October. The same form is used by
all state universities and colleges.
-
Request
high school transcript. Request an official high
school transcript to be sent to the campus of choice after you
receive a Notice of Space Reservation.
-
Take
the necessary tests. Request that the
appropriate testing organization send the results of either
the SAT I or the ACT to the college where you are applying for
admission. If your grade point average is 3.00 or above, you
are not required to submit test scores. You are, however,
urged to submit the results for advising and placement. It is
your responsibility to request testing results be sent
directly to the campus to which you are applying.
Requirements
Requirements for admission
to the California State University system is based on a
combination of your high school grade point average and your test
scores on either the ACT or SAT I. The grade point average is
based on grades earned during your final three years of high
school. Bonus points are also awarded for each grade C or better
in approved Honors courses.
