During the fall semester, approximately 70 colleges and university admission representatives will visit SMES. They are visiting to speak with interested candidates as well as to learn more about our school.

Juniors and seniors are invited to attend these sessions. Weekly, visits to SMES will be posted on the College Counseling Office bulletin board. In addition, they will be posted on the College Counseling website, College Compass (www.smes.org/college/repvisits.htm) and announced in advisory. If you are interested in a school that is coming on campus, we strongly encourage you to attend the meeting. You will have the opportunity to meet the representative who will very likely review your application.

If you decide to meet with a representative, you must obtain a College Visit Request Form which must be signed by the teacher of the class you will be missing. In addition, the college counselor must sign the form as well to verify your attendance. If you are interested in a school that is visiting but cannot be excused from class due to a test or other reason, let your college counselor know and he/she will have the representative leave information behind for you. We will tell that representative that you are interested but could not attend.

There are 2 other opportunities in the fall to meet admission representatives. Many colleges hold evening information sessions at hotels or local schools. This setting enables more parents to attend. Area information sessions will be posted on the bulletin board and College Compass as well.

SMES and Santa Margarita jointly sponsor a college night in which 90 colleges from around the country are represented. This is an excellent opportunity to speak with representatives informally and make a connection in the admission office.
