“MCWeb”: Mastering Chemistry through Computer-Based Tutorials

This year some of our quizzes will be taken through a web-delivered resource.  This is a chemistry tutorial program with a quizzing component to it.  This is a learning tool and will allow you to gain the level of mastery of the information that you wish to achieve.  You can access this program in the chemistry room or at home.  I will introduce you to this learning tool in class and I will give you instructions to access it at home via the internet.

The questions within a topic are randomly generated so that the series of questions you receive will be different every time and also different from those asked of anyone else working on this same assignment.  As the title suggests, the purpose of these exercises are to help you master a topic in chemistry and allowing you the time you need.  These exercises will help reinforce your understanding of the semester material in anticipation of the exam.  As a quiz for credit I am expecting that you take these quizzes on your own without help from any other person or resource.  You may use your calculator on the actual "Post-Tests."

How Do These Count?:

These exercises will each be worth 10 quiz points each.  The full points will be earned by every student who reaches the base mastery level (70%) by the due date.  Three (7) points will be awarded for those who attempt the exercise and reach between a 50%-70% mastery level by the due date.  No points are awarded for less than 50% success.  After the due date you can earn 6 and 5 points respectively for 70% or 50%-70% respectively.  As with any work you submit for grade, this work must be your own effort and not that of someone else.
